One of the larger Army Commissary's. It's very big and bright, with an actual large selection compared to other commissary's at the other bases I've been to. This one actually has a fresh seafood counter with someone ready to help which I've never encountered at a commissary. Just like with everything, you need to know the market as sometimes pricing is higher than the public grocery stores but the trade off is it's tax free.

This place blew my mind the first time I visited. The hands down best military commissary. I have been stationed at 8 locations, with this one being the cream of the crop. They offer so many choices between meat, including seafood. This place has great bulk sale days, where they mark down choices of everyday snacks that the kids love. Trust me, visit the commissary at Fort Belvoir, and you will NOT be disappointed. #Iamnotabot

This commissary is close to the flagpole, so it is stocked and well maintained. Other DECA commissaries have reduced stocks, replaced established brands with poor quality "Freedoms Choice," and do their best to encourage shoppers to buy groceries at Walmart. The Belvoir commissary is nothing like the disfunctional grocery system the rest of all other military bases endure.
You will not find empty shelves, missing name brands, or stale products found at the rest of DECA run commissaries if you shop at Fort Belvoir.
I'm happy that there is at least one commissary in the world that seems to know their mission. Being at the flagpole has its advantages, it appears. The rest of us will just shop at Walmart to get our groceries.

It's so overwhelming that it reminds me of a Wegmans. This commissary does not carry all variety of items I can get at other commissaries. I was
shocked because its so big I thought they would have everything every other one would have.

I wanted to bring to your attention an uncomfortable situation that occurred at your store on 08/08/24 at 08:54. My husband and I witnessed a cashier named Sheikhersi Zuheyb interacting in a way that felt inappropriate. He was laughing and making smirking gestures with a customer while directing attention towards us, which felt quite disrespectful and made us uncomfortable.

We have been frequent patrons of your store, visiting twice a week and making significant purchases, always appreciating the generally positive service and atmosphere. However, this recent experience was quite troubling and did not align with the level of respect we expect.

I would appreciate it if you could address this behavior to ensure that all customers are treated with the courtesy they deserve. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

This is the nicest commissary I've been to in 22 years! It's a big store with a great selection and fresh produce. The only that needs help is consistency in their hours across the DECA website, Google Maps, and the phone system. I talked with a store employee that said they're having trouble with the phone system reverting back to old messages, among other issues, thanks to poor service with the Verizon contract. They just changed hours due to summer (May 2024), so just a heads up that there's almost no way to tell for sure if they're open or not ? Luckily they're open 7 days a week, so as long as you go in the middle of the day (holidays not guaranteed), then they should be open.

Their power was down but they ran on gen backup. Still able to shop. One gas no gas at ClassVI due to lack of power.
