Another cheap eat rec in 8 Avenue, Brooklyn. Ba Xuyên is a neighborhood favorite for affordable and homey vietnamese food. The shop is operated by some vietnamese aunties, serving a variety of banh mi, authentic street snacks and fruit shakes.

I’ve already been there at least three times whenever I’m craving for banh mi or feeling broke.

＊Banh Mi Pate Thit Nguoi (Combination #1)
Banh mi is priced up to $8 in good portion size and hearty fillings. Every banh mi has a base of cucumber, cilantro, pickled carrots and green pepper. My go-to banh mi order is the bestselling combination #1. It has ham, pork, pork teriyaki & BBQ with paté and butter. It is so filling that I can get two meals out of it.

＊Jackfruit Shake
I can’t leave this place without getting their milkshake. They blend actual fruits into the shakes, giving it a natural and sweet flavor. They have tropical fruit flavors like lychee, taro, papaya and durian. I heard good things about their avocado shake, but I always stick to my favorite jackfruit shake.

I finally did it. I found the best Banh Mi in the city.

The Banh Mi here have the perfect combination of subtle yet delicious flavors, fresh ingredients, and the PERFECT bread.

In my opinion, the bread is one of the crucial components of the Banh Mi. I have had many delicious Banh Mi with good, fresh ingredients that have been ruined by chewy bread, stale bread, or overly “American” sub bread. This bread has an excellent outer crispiness with a soft warm interior. The balance of meat to vegetables to sauce is perfect. I will come back here continuously as long as I live in the city.

It is also cash only! And the Banh Mi was $8. An amazing deal.

Most authentic banh mi in NYC. Only thing that can be made more authentic is the bread. It’s good but it’s not the best ever. A little too dense.

I always buy the #6 Chicken Sandwich, is very delicious, fresh and light $7.50 and $6 for the cake pandan flavor? Will be wonderful with ice cream. I literally walk 21min back and forth for this because Bus in 8ave is so scarce sometimes. It worth my walk and even today that was so hot. I call for pick-up ☺️

The banh mi here is amazing. The contrast between the crunchy baguette, creamy pate, pickled veggies, and spicy peppers creates a delightful bite. It's a family-run business, so ordering can become a bit chaotic when the line gets long, as there's no defined queue.

My favorite Vietnamese sandwich spot for many many years. A little gem! Always those kind ladies there, service and quality of the food never changed! The butter hero it’s a heaven,I usually choose that or the fresh veggie sandwich. Vietnamese coffee very delicious if you like a stronger one. They have couple of tables you can seat down and eat there. Usually I just pick up and take it to go..If we are in Brooklyn my family always pick up here something to eat.

The sandwiches are good but not what I usually get. Give the lunch boxes a shot, they're priced great, are really filling and are delicious. They sometimes have some dishes to the right of the counter that are delicious as well. Nothing I've gotten was ever bad or disappointing from this shop.

Also the best avocado shakes I've had, we go here just to pick some up sometimes.
